Carlos Tevez confirms leaving ManUtd for good

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Finally fans player, Argentine Carlos Tevez has decided that he will not sign a deal with Manchester United. Probably Manchester United hesitated a little too much in making a decision to offer Tevez a permanent license at Old Trafford. This behavior of Manchester United always kept Tevez waiting to sign a contract and when the contract offer finally came, the Argentine star had already decided to move on.

If Tevez had signed the new deal, it would have made him the highest earner at United along side Ferdinand and Berbatov. But money was never a problem for Tevez, as told by his advisor Kia Joorabchian, Tevez was unhappy at the club as he was probably sidelined because of the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov, continued Kia.

Though Tevez will be playing in the Premier League, it is not yet decided to which club he will be heading this year. There have been rumors about Tevez getting offers from Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. Reportedly Tevez has decided he will not head to Anfield because of its intense rivalry with his previous club Manchester United. Manchester City seems favorite to sign the Argentine star as the club has greater challenges and enough motivation to demote any one of the conventional so called top four of English Football.

Christiano Ronaldo sold to Real Madrid

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

It is finally the moment of truth. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t spinning dreams on thin air when he expressed a deep desire to be part of the Real Madrid squad. It comes as no surprise because rumors of Ronaldos transfer to Real Madrid has been doing the rounds for a while now. Juande Ramos (ex-Real Madrid coach) certainly expressed no surprise considering everyone knew about the pre- contract agreement between Real Madrid and Ronaldo, so it was all just waiting to happen.

Despite a few criticisms and outbursts, general opinion confirms that most people believed it was waiting to happen. Players like Bruno Alves, Deco, Jose Bosingwa, Pepe, Daniel Guiza and Santiago Carzola have viced their support in regards to Ronaldo’s move. Internazionale manager, Jose Mourinho has hailed Real’s decision to sign on Kaka and Ronaldo. UEFA president, Michel Platini certainly has voiced concern over the magnanimous nature of this transfer which stands tall at $ 131m. He did comment on how such huge financial transfers do obstruct fair play and how EUFA is trying hard to come up with a solution to curb such practices.

Real Madrid has always been popular for their expensive purchases but this deal has proven to be the most expensive football transfer in history. Certainly Real Madrid’s hoping for resurrection in their superstars. The Galáctico is back and this time it may not be an object of ridicule but Real may finally be on their way to their former glory and fame.

Where does this leave Manchester United? Well, they were ready for it since the transfer was inevitable. It’s heartbreaking to accept this truth as a United fan with his feat of 118 goals in 6 seasons. Talks between Real Madrid and Ronaldos representatives were initiated after the latter again expressed his desire to leave Manchester United for Real Madrid.

Manchester United will divulge details only on 30th June, 2009. So, till month end it’s going to be gossip and small talk but there isn’t much to cook up anymore with the startling transfer fee having astounded the world already. Certainly Ronaldos idiosyncrasies will be missed on field and this transfer is going to open up space for a new winger and striker. Certainly the transfer fee is probably good enough to buy 2 or even 3 new players for the Manchester United squad, and will present opportunities to younger players in the team.

While Real Madrid is busy building a dream team with Ronaldo being the latest jewel in the crown, Manchester United will need to regroup. This acquisition certainly finds a place in the history book and raises the concept of football club transfers to a new level. On a lighter note, what happens to the Nike sponsorship?

Cristiano Ronaldo

Just the name is enough for this lad from Portugal who broke all records possible for a winger. He might easily be the most prized possession of Sir Alex Ferguson in his managerial career.

42 goals scored in all competitions in the 2007/08 season got Manchester United European and England glory also winning all possible trophies this year.

He opened the scoring in the Moscow final against Chelsea but missed a penalty in the shootout. Though United won cause John Terry missed the decider penalty and gave life to Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In his early days he played for Sporting Lisbon and was signed by Manchester United in 2003 for ₤12.3 million. There was no looking behind after that.

Though he has always suggested that he would love to play for Real Madrid one day, its not quite sure how long will he sustain at Old Trafford. But Ferguson is not keeping a single stone unturned to keep the FIFA Footballer of the year at Manchester United.

This year too he shares the top goal scorer’s spot with Chelsea’s Nicolas Anelka in the Premier League. Lately it seems he has found his goal scoring touch which was visible when he scored twice against Villa recently.
